I’ve spent most of my life coaching in one form or another — teaching high school, coaching basketball, soccer, and track, and for the past 20 years leading a fitness company focused on helping people become stronger in every area of life.

Along the way I’ve had pieces published online like Parenting Through Privilege and The 5 Types of Dad My Kids Need, and even had a silly “Dad Snow Day Workout” go viral on Good Morning America (the comments were entertaining).

But a few years ago, something hit me hard: my oldest would soon be leaving for college.

And I found myself wondering: Am I really making the most of these final years together?

That question led to a simple weekly habit — sending short, honest messages to my teens. Not lectures. Not long essays. Just intentional conversations designed to stay connected through the chaos and distraction of adolescence.

The impact was far greater than I expected.

What started as a personal practice became this project: a place where I share ideas, tools, and encouragement to help dads lead their families with more intention, connection, and presence.
